8th Annual Wrap Up

The 8th Annual rally took place on August 8-10, 2014.  We had a total of 16 bikes and 17 riders participate over the weekend.  The weather held for us and made for nice riding.  This year's poker run was organized by Paul H. and he took us into Manitoba with stops in Killarny, Souris and Deloraine.  One of our first time riders took home the first pick of the poker prizes with a hand of four tens!
We raised a total of  $1,801.00 this year, bringing our running total to $18,740.00!  Kudos to everyone that gathered pledges.
The 9th Annual Wardens on Wheels Rally will be the weekend of August 7-9, 2015.  Lets try to get some new riders to attend and keep the rally growing.

July 17/14 Update

OK.  I've gone back and fixed the links in the last two posts.  Hopefully they work for everyone now!

Still lots of camp sites available if you aren't able to get into the Quilt Inn.  I think the issues around our block of room reservations was resolved and everyone got a room or is going to get a room.

The Friday night supper will be in the Boathouse restaurant, located in the Twin Oaks Resort (same as the last couple years).  Reservation is for 7:00 PM CST.

We will be meeting an hour earlier at the Museum on Saturday morning.  10:00 AM.  This will give us a little extra time to clear customs and head off into soggy Manitoba for our poker run.

Passport required!

Bring a prize, bring a friend and lets have a great weekend!

PS.  Above photo is yours truly on The Tail of the Dragon.

8th Annual Update

Survived the Missouri Wardens on Wheels Rally AND the Tail of the Dragon!

Bill Schaller advised that the Quilt Inn has screwed up and only reserved a block of rooms for us on Friday night.  I spoke to the manager and he was quite certain that there will be rooms available for Saturday.  There are a block of rooms being held for a different group that will become available July 15th.  The Quilt Inn (701) 263-6500.

If things don't work out there, Bill has forwarded a list of accommodations in  Bottineau and lake Metigoshe.

Motels in Bottineau are:

Norway House Motel & Restaurant      701-228-3737
Super 8    701-228-2125
Cobblestone Inn & Suites  701-534-2121
Twin Oaks resort   701-263-4295

You can always reserve a campsite and party with me!

Haven't heard back from the Boathouse Restaurant in the Twin Oaks about a reservation and meal plan for Friday night, but as of now that will still be the plan.

Saturday we are planning to move the Museum meeting up an hour to 10:00 and taking the poker run into Manitoba.
PASSPORTS REQUIRED!

Please try to bring a prize for the poker run.

Accomodations

Attached letter from the park manager at Lake Metigoshe.  Anyone camping will need to make a reservation.  I have booked site 100 in North Hill campground.

Rob,

Hope this finds you doing well.

I sincerely apologize for the lateness in getting back with you on this one. It’s been a crazy spring and I wish it was Oct. 1 already so I can start to play.

There has been a change in operations here at Lake Metigoshe State Park. We are now a 100% reservation system throughout the park – all sites are on the reservation system. Setting sights aside are a bit harder for me now. The individuals that are planning to come can still get into the North Hill campground but they will need to make reservations by going on line to www.parkrec.nd.gov or by calling 1-800–807–4723

The on line approach is the cheapest for the reservation fee.

Here’s what the cost should be for you.

Park Entrance Fee                           $5.00 per vehicle per day
Reservation Fee                               $4.00 per reservation (on-line) $8.00 (phone)
Camping Fee                                      $12.00 per night (No hookups – like you’ve had in the past)

Larry A. Hagen
Park Manager
2 Lake Metigoshe State Park
Bottineau, North Dakota 58318-8044
Phone 701.263.4651
Fax 701.263.4648

A block of rooms has been set aside at the Quilt Inn again this year.  (701) 263-6500

* Remember to make sure you will have a VALID PASSPORT!  Canada here we come!
