9th Annual Wrap Up
Well the 9th Annual Wardens on Wheels Rally is in the books. In total we had 17 bikes throughout the weekend and 18 riders attend. Riders were from MI, MO, KS, ND, MB and SK.
We raised another $1,685 in pledges for the Game Warden Museum. This brings our running total to $20, 425 for the 9 years! Congratulations riders!
The Friday night supper was held at the Dockside Grill and everyone seemed pleased with the food and service. We will most likely return there for next year.
The Saturday meeting and Heather Nadolski Memorial poker run were held in fine weather. No issues other than yours truly getting stung in the neck by a bee!
For the second year in a row a first time rider managed to come up with the best poker hand. Everyone managed to claim at least a couple prizes from the table.
Late in the evening the half a dozen riders still socializing at the fire were suddenly accosted by five rival gang members. We had always know that the other gang held their annual get together on the same weekend at Lake Metigoshe. Up until this year we had no problems with them. We're not sure whether they were looking to rumble or if they just wanted to join what was obviously a good time being had by the Wardens. I can only attribute their behavior to a "Full Moon"! Which is funny since the calendar only showed a half moon phase for that night. After drinking some of our beer they moved along without anyone getting in trouble!
Preparations for the 10th Annual Rally have been started.
Commemorative t-shirts are being planned and coordinated by our Missouri friends. A picnic shelter has been reserved in case of rainy weather. We plan to notify some local media to come and cover some of the weekend events if they choose. The poker run will be looping up into Canada again, so make sure you have a valid passport!
Thanks to everyone that attended and helped out. I will be trying to get the word out to all the riders that have attended past rallies, and to new riders that have not made it to the Museum, to try and attend and make the 10th Annual Rally the biggest and best we've ever had! Start spreading the word and book the weekend of August 12-14, 2016 off to attend.
